In April, the MPA announced it had received over 50 proposals for methanol bunkering, with the potential to supply more than 1 million tonnes of the fuel by 2030. Last year, Singapore conducted its first ship-to-containership methanol bunkering for Maersk. This milestone was followed by ship-to-ship methanol bunkering of nearly 1,340 metric tonnes of blended methanol for the Stena Prosperous , and a simultaneous methanol bunkering and cargo operation (SIMOPS) for X-Press Feeders in May. Singapore is also developing a licensing framework for methanol bunkering, expected to be finalized by the end of the year, reinforcing its position as a leader in sustainable maritime fuel solutions.
