CSSC Chengxi Shipyard, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), delivered the 82,000 DWT bulk carrier ASL MARS on 10 Oct 2026, completing the vessel 51 days ahead of its contractual delivery date. The bulk carrier was built for the Liang He Group and is the second 82,000 DWT vessel of this type constructed by Chengxi for the shipowner, following the earlier delivery of a sister ship. The design was developed in-house by Chengxi and incorporates environmentally friendly features, high cargo capacity and operational versatility aimed at meeting current market demands for efficient dry bulk tonnage. According to the shipyard, all sea trials for ASL MARS were completed successfully on the first attempt, with the vessel meeting all design specifications and applicable classification and regulatory standards. The smooth trial process contributed to the accelerated handover timeline. The early delivery represents a further step in the expanding cooperation between CSSC Chengxi and the Liang He Group, following the successful completion of their first joint newbuilding project. The partnership underscores continued activity in the bulk carrier segment among Chinese shipbuilders as owners seek to renew and expand their fleets with newer, more efficient tonnage.
