HMM Expands Fleet with LNG-Ready Vessel, Advances Sustainability Goals

July's birthstone, HMM Ruby is the seventh in a series of twelve LNG-ready 13,000 TEU containerships ordered by HMM from Hanwha Ocean and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in 2021. Each vessel, built under this agreement, incorporates advanced energy-saving technologies designed to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. Moreover, these ships feature LNG-ready configurations, enabling potential future conversion to LNG propulsion systems.The inaugural ship from this series, HMM Garnet , was previously delivered by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in January 2024. Upon completion of all twelve vessels later this year, HMM's total fleet capacity is anticipated to reach 1 million TEUs, with containerships exceeding 10,000 TEUs constituting 80% of the fleet. This strategic expansion aims to bolster HMM's operational efficiency and cost structure significantly.
