Golar LNG Ltd. has executed an engineering, procurement, and construction contract with Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd. for its fourth floating LNG vessel, the second unit built to Golar's MKII design. The converted vessel will have an annual liquefaction capacity of 3.5 million tonnes and is expected to be delivered from the shipyard by end 2029. A donor vessel for the conversion has already been secured. The new unit will
be similar to FLNG Esperanza, currently under construction at CIMC Raffles, which is slated for installation at the port of San Antonio Este, Rio Negro, Argentina, as part of YPF's Argentina LNG development. Golar said building a repeat design, with two units under overlapping construction at the same shipyard, will generate significant cost and scheduling synergies. As part of the EPC agreement, Black & Veatch will supply its licensed PRICO liquefaction technology, carry out detailed engineering and process design, specify and procure topside equipment, and provide commissioning support for the FLNG topsides and liquefaction process. The order raises Golar's combined FLNG liquefaction capacity to more than 12 million tonnes per year. Golar is seeking a long-term charter contract for the new vessel. The conversion project carries a total budget of about $2.45 billion, delivered to its prospective site.
