HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering (KSOE), a prominent South Korean shipbuilder, has ambitious plans to secure over US$18 billion in new orders during 2025. The company aims to focus on procuring contracts for high-end, environmentally friendly vessels, capitalizing on the evolving demands of the shipping industry. In 2025, KSOE has established an annual order target of US$18.12 billion, marking a significant 34% increase from its 2024 target of US$13.5 billion. This target encompasses orders secured across its three major shipyards: HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), HD Hyundai Samho, and HD Hyundai Mipo, with respective goals of US$9.75 billion, US$4.57 billion, and US$3.8 billion. Despite the global outlook predicting a 28.8% drop in newbuilding orders to 42 million combined gross tons (CGT) in 2025, KSOE remains optimistic. The company surpassed its 2024 target by achieving 152.2% with orders valued at US$20.56 billion. These orders include various types of vessels, signaling a robust performance and positioning the company well for future success.
