Dutch shipbuilder GS Projects has secured Damen Marine Components (DMC) to supply critical steering, control, and propulsion systems for four PMax Eco Trader dry cargo vessels. The 6,250 dwt vessels are being built for Groningen-based short-sea operator Longship, with delivery of the first ship expected in early 2026. DMC will equip the vessels with its advanced “plug-and-play” piston RAM-type steering systems, Barke rudders, and Optima nozzles, ensuring seamless integration during construction. The 100 x 15.5-meter vessels, designed by Groot Ship Design, will meet Lloyd’s Register (LR) classification standards and the stringent Finnish-Swedish 1A ice class requirements.

Construction is taking place at GS Projects’ shipyard in Waterhuizen, in collaboration with Groot Ship Design and Ship and Steelbuilding (SaS). DMC highlighted that the selected components align perfectly with the vessels’ design, offering robust performance and reliability in challenging maritime environments.The four identical ships are expected to enhance Longship’s short-sea operations while promoting energy efficiency and sustainability. The inclusion of DMC’s modular systems is anticipated to streamline the construction timeline, supporting GS Projects’ commitment to on-time delivery and high-quality shipbuilding standards.
