T.S. Lines Ltd. has signed shipbuilding contracts with Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. for two 11,000 TEU container ships, in a deal worth US$246 million. The vessels are expected to be delivered in 2030, with exact delivery dates to be set under the individual contracts. T.S. Lines said the new ships will expand its owned fleet and total capacity, helping it meet growing demand in the container shipping industry, particularly across the Asia-Pacific region. The company added that the vessels will strengthen its ability to offer reliable, frequent services and reinforce its market position. Since 2021, T.S. Lines has ordered more than ten container ships from Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, ranging from 7,000 TEU to 14,000 TEU in capacity. The most recent delivery, the TS Manila, a 7,000 TEU vessel, was handed over on 08 Sep 2026. This latest order marks T.S. Lines' second shipbuilding announcement of 2026, following a contract earlier this year with Mawei Shipyard, a unit of Fujian Shipbuilding Industry, for four 2,900 TEU container ships valued at $168.6 million, due for delivery by May 2029. Founded in 2001, T.S. Lines is a Taiwan-based intra-Asia container carrier ranked among the world's top 20 liner operators. As of end-June 2026, it operated 47 container vessels totaling nearly 140,000 TEU, comprising 35 owned, 7 chartered-in, and 5 owned-but-chartered-out ships, with an average fleet age of 4.8 years. Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding currently holds about 60 new vessel orders across container ships, tankers, FPSOs and cruise ships, with deliveries scheduled through 2030.
