Samudera Shipping Line has signed shipbuilding contracts for two new 3,000 TEU container vessels as part of its fleet development programme. The Singapore-listed carrier entered into the agreements with Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding and Jiangsu Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding, which are identified collectively as the seller in the filing. The company did not specify how construction will be divided between the two Chinese yards. Both vessels are expected to be delivered to Samudera by 2030, subject to the terms of the respective contracts. Samudera said the newbuildings will strengthen its container shipping capacity and support its long-term operational requirements. The company did not disclose the contract value, propulsion arrangements or detailed technical specifications of the vessels. According to Samudera, the transaction forms part of its ordinary business activities and is not expected to materially affect the group's net tangible assets or earnings per share for the financial year ending 31 December 2026. The order adds to the carrier's ongoing fleet renewal efforts as it seeks to expand capacity within the mid-size container segment.
