Skarv Shipping Solutions has marked a significant milestone with the delivery of the third vessel in its fleet, Peak Skarv 3, which will commence its maiden voyage from China to Europe on Monday. The vessel was officially delivered when Captain Alejandro T. Montenegro raised the Norwegian flag, symbolizing its readiness for operation. On the same day, the company initiated the construction of hull 247, an ammonia-powered vessel designed to transport Norwegian timber for Viken AT Market starting in 2027. This ship will be the first in Skarv's fleet to operate on ammonia from delivery, reflecting the company's commitment to reducing emissions in short-sea shipping. CEO Jan Øivind Svardal highlighted the importance of these developments, noting that three ships are now active, providing customers with lower-emission short-sea shipping capacity. The steel cutting for the new ammonia vessel was conducted by Senior Project Manager Ragnhild Farstad Høvik, marking the start of a new phase in sustainable maritime transport for the company. These advancements position Skarv Shipping Solutions at the forefront of environmentally conscious shipping, aligning with broader industry trends toward green fuel adoption and emission reduction.
