China's New Dayang Lands Deal for Two Ultramax Bulk Carriers

Chinese shipbuilder New Dayang has secured orders for two ultramax bulk carriers from China Construction Bank (CCB) Financial Leasing. The vessels, built to the Crown 63 Plus design, are set to be delivered starting in late 2026 and will be operated by Bohai Shipping (Hebei). Additionally, Sumec Group's shipbuilding arm, based in Jiangsu, has renewed a letter of intent with Bohai Shipping for two more ultramaxes of the same design. This latest order brings Sumec's backlog to 63 ships, with production scheduled through the fourth quarter of 2027. Sumec Group acquired Dayang Shipbuilding in 2018.
