In mid-February, Monaco-based Scorpio Tankers exercised its options to order two additional LR2 product tankers from Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, bringing its total LR2 orderbook at the Chinese yard to four vessels. The new scrubber-fitted ships, priced at approximately USD 68.5 million each, will be delivered in the third and fourth quarters of 2029. This move reinforces Dalian Shipbuilding's dominance in the 110k–115k dwt segment. Scorpio Tankers, which operates a fleet of 93 vessels, continues its expansion with recent orders including LR2s and VLCCs at various shipyards. The company is actively modernizing its fleet to strengthen its position in the global product tanker market.
