China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has placed an order for a specialized liftboat from Wuhan Marine Machinery Plant (WMMP). The agreement for this construction project marks a significant collaboration between the two prominent Chinese companies. The liftboat will feature four cylindrical legs designed for self-elevation and will be classified by the China Classification Society. It will be equipped with four 2,500-ton hydraulic pin lifting systems and two cranes with lifting capacities of 50 and 30 tonnes, respectively. Additionally, the structure includes accommodations at the bow for 200 personnel. Once completed, the new liftboat will serve at the Bohai Oilfield, the largest crude oil production base in China, located about 200 kilometers east of Beijing. It will support production increase initiatives and mobile heat injection operations, enhancing the field's operational capacity. WMMP, a seasoned contractor with over 40 similar projects primarily for Middle Eastern clients, is now strengthening its presence in the domestic market with this new venture. The initiative reflects growing domestic demand for offshore equipment tailored to support China's energy infrastructure.
