Beihai Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, has successfully delivered a 5,500 TEU container ship, named CMA CGM OUVEA, to the CMA CGM Group. This event marks the ninth vessel of its kind handed over by Beihai Shipbuilding, showcasing their continued collaboration.
The CMA CGM OUVEA is a medium-sized container ship, designed with advanced energy-saving and environmentally friendly features. Developed in partnership with the Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute, the vessel boasts an overall length of 255.5 meters and a beam of 40.0 meters with a deadweight of 73,025.91 tons.
Notably, the ship's Energy Efficiency Design Index has improved significantly, being 53.6% below the baseline, thanks to its WinGD 7X82-2.0 version main engine optimized for fuel consumption. It also features a Fuel Oil Recovery System, rapidly recovering fuel oil in case of incidents, and the SmartBridge suite for improved operational efficiency and safety.
Adhering to the strict standards set by Bureau Veritas (BV), the CMA CGM OUVEA meets the BV ESA symbol's requirements. This ensures the vessel is not only efficient but also meets high safety and environmental standards, further promoting Beihai Shipbuilding's reputation for delivering high-quality ships.
