TOWT (TransOceanic Wind Transport) has expanded its fleet with the addition of its latest sailing cargo vessel, Artemis, following more than two years of construction at the PIRIOU Vietnam shipyard. On August 20, 2024, the vessel was officially delivered in Ho Chi Minh City, marking a significant milestone for the company’s eco-friendly maritime operations.

The Artemis is the sister ship of Anemos and was primarily built at the Piriou Vietnam facility in Nha May, with final masting occurring further downstream on the Saigon River. The shipyard has played a crucial role in the development of TOWT’s wind-powered cargo vessels, designed to reduce the carbon footprint of global shipping.

Artemis is set to embark on its maiden commercial voyage in the coming days, carrying a diverse cargo that includes boxes, modems, tea, and coffee. The ship will navigate through the South China Sea and the Karimata Strait, leveraging the prevailing easterly winds in the Indian Ocean for propulsion.This delivery strengthens TOWT’s commitment to sustainable maritime transport, utilizing traditional sailing technology to promote environmentally responsible shipping practices across international trade routes.
