MSC World Atlantic floated out at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, this past week, touching water for the first time. The 215,863-gross-ton vessel was moved from its construction dock into the water, marking a key milestone roughly a year and a half after construction began with a steel-cutting ceremony in March 2025. A keel-laying ceremony followed in November 2025, coinciding with MSC Cruises' order for two additional World Class ships. Following the float-out, the fourth World Class vessel will remain at the shipyard for interior fit-out, public-space construction, and technical work ahead of delivery in 2027. It is scheduled to debut on 13 Nov 2027 with a 7-night maiden voyage from Port Canaveral, Florida, calling at Nassau, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Cozumel, and Costa Maya, Mexico. The ship will then operate year-round 7- and 14-night Caribbean itineraries from Port Canaveral through at least summer 2028, becoming MSC's next U.S. flagship. The 6,758-guest vessel will introduce new venues including the Viva La Musica Latin music lounge and The Clubhouse family entertainment space, which features a LEGO Family Zone, bumper cars, sports courts, and roller skating. It will also offer 144 MSC Yacht Club suites, returning favorites such as Cliffhanger and The Harbour, and six specialty restaurants including Butcher's Cut and Kaito Sushi and Teppanyaki. MSC World Atlantic will become the 25th ship in MSC's fleet and join MSC World Europa, MSC World America, and MSC World Asia in the World Class lineup. Four further World Class ships are on order at Chantiers de l'Atlantique, with deliveries expected between 2029 and 2031.
