Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS), led by Idan Ofer, has made a significant move in the maritime industry by placing an order for ultra large ethane carriers (ULECs) in China. This landmark order marks a pioneering step for this vessel type globally.

According to reliable shipbuilding sources, the Singapore-based diversified shipping company has commissioned six 150,000 cubic meter ULECs from Jiangnan Shipyard. This order represents a world-first for ULECs, with additional similar orders anticipated in the near future.These newbuilds, each spanning 274 meters in length and costing approximately $200 million, are expected to commence deliveries in 2027.
