BGN has signed a contract with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HD HHI) for the construction of four new LPG dual-fuel Very Large Gas Carriers, each with a cargo capacity of 93,000 cbm. The agreement was signed at a ceremony in Istanbul and forms part of BGN's strategy to expand its LPG shipping capacity and strengthen the maritime infrastructure supporting its global trading operations. The vessels will be built by HD HHI in South Korea, with delivery expected in January 2030. Equipped with dual-fuel technology, the ships will be capable of running on LPG as well as conventional marine fuels, supporting more efficient operations and BGN's broader decarbonisation commitments in maritime transport. The order builds on BGN's existing relationship with HD HHI and follows two earlier 2026 agreements covering six additional dual-fuel VLGCs: four 90,000 cbm vessels announced in April and two 93,000 cbm vessels announced in June, bringing the total new orders this year to ten vessels. According to TrustedDocks orderbook data, the April order was placed on 16 Apr 2026 and reported the following day, was valued at USD 115 million per vessel, and covers four vessels scheduled for delivery between January 2029 and November 2029. Ozan Turgut, BGN Shipping Director, said the company is accelerating investment in state-of-the-art vessels to build capacity supporting its strategic growth and diversify its global energy portfolio. An HD HHI spokesperson said the partnership would help deliver modern vessels with advanced technologies that contribute to reducing carbon emissions across global LPG shipping operations.
