Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) has delivered a new 10,800-vehicle LNG dual-fuel Pure Car Truck Carrier (PCTC), named Glovis Legend, to South Korea's HMM. The vessel was handed over on Monday, nearly nine months ahead of the contracted delivery date. The ship was designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute and measures 230 meters in length, with a beam of 40 meters and a design draft of 10.5 meters. It has a design speed of 19 knots and is equipped with a dual-fuel propulsion system capable of running on LNG and fuel oil, reflecting the growing industry shift toward lower-emission vessel technology for large car carriers. Following delivery, the Glovis Legend will be operated by Hyundai Glovis, HMM's logistics affiliate responsible for vehicle transport operations. The vessel adds to a fleet of large-capacity PCTCs serving global automotive export routes, as shipbuilders continue to expand capacity for dual-fuel vessels amid rising demand for vehicle shipping and stricter environmental regulations in the maritime sector. The early delivery underscores GSI's production efficiency on a vessel type that has seen strong order activity in recent years, driven by surging global car exports and carmakers' need for larger, cleaner-burning transport capacity.
