Wuhu Shipyard has delivered two 18,500 DWT chemical tankers on consecutive days, handing over the “FARRIE RUSS” to British shipowner Union Maritime Limited and the “WESTERN DAHLIA” to Hong Kong-based shipowner EGPN the following day. The “FARRIE RUSS” is the fourth vessel in the UML project, following the “FRANKIE RUSS,” which was delivered in September 2026. It measures 149.8 metres overall with a length between perpendiculars of 145.3 metres and a depth of 12.7 metres, has a design speed of 14 knots, and offers 21,000 cubic metres of liquid cargo capacity across six pairs of cargo tanks with associated ballast tanks. The vessel is ice-classed (IB) and complies with unrestricted navigation requirements, including European Union and United States Emission Control Area regulations. It is fitted with a controllable-pitch propeller and shaft generator system with pitch and speed optimization to cut fuel use, a methanol-ready main engine for future dual-fuel conversion, an SCR system meeting IMO Tier III standards, a stern-mounted propeller boss cap fin, a pre-installed rotor sail foundation, and high-end protective coating on cargo hold bulkheads. The “WESTERN DAHLIA,” an 18,500 DWT oil and chemical tanker, is powered by a MAN B&W 6S40ME-C9.5-HPSCR low-speed main engine with integrated high-pressure SCR, meeting IMO Tier III emission standards for all global ECAs. It carries 532 cubic metres of heavy fuel oil and 219 cubic metres of diesel for extended range, and features a partially recessed engine room layout for generator sets to improve maintenance access and reduce labour costs.
