Nantong Rainbow Offshore & Engineering Equipment Co., Ltd. (ROC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jiangsu Rainbow Heavy Industries, has signed a contract with a prominent European shipowner for the construction of six 13,000 DWT stainless-steel chemical tankers, including options. The announcement was made by Jiangsu Rainbow Heavy Industries on 27 Oct 2026. The contract is valued at approximately 1.5 billion to 1.65 billion yuan, or roughly $225 million to $248 million. Delivery of the new vessels will begin in batches 28 months after the contract takes effect. Jiangsu Rainbow Heavy Industries did not disclose the shipowner's identity beyond describing it as a well-known European company engaged in chemical transport, noting it has no prior affiliation or transactions with the client over the past three years. The company said the deal will strengthen its position in the marine and offshore engineering equipment market and support future expansion and long-term operational sustainability. Jiangsu Rainbow Heavy Industries previously secured an order from Germany's Essberger for a similar series of 13,000 DWT stainless-steel chemical tankers, with four vessels confirmed and deliveries expected to start in April 2027. The company has recently won a string of overseas orders, mostly from European shipowners, spanning high-value vessel types including six live fish transport vessels, two platform supply vessels, ten offshore service vessels, and eight wind farm operation and maintenance vessels.
