Clients of Sea Pioneer Shipping Corporation have signed contracts for the construction of six 115,000 DWT crude oil tankers at South Korea's SK Oceanplant Shipyard. The order was announced by Sea Pioneer Shipping Corporation on LinkedIn. The six newbuild tankers are scheduled for delivery between the first quarter of 2029 and the second quarter of 2030. No further details were disclosed regarding the identity of the ordering clients, vessel specifications beyond deadweight tonnage, or the value of the contracts. According to TrustedDocks orderbook data, the deal is valued at approximately USD 71.6 million per vessel and includes options for two additional tankers of the same specification. The vessels will run on conventional fuel, and the order was reported on 31 Aug 2026. The order adds to a wave of crude tanker newbuilding activity in South Korea, where SK Oceanplant has been securing contracts amid renewed interest in mid-sized crude carriers. Vessels in the 115,000 DWT class fall into the Aframax/LR2 category, commonly used for regional and medium-haul crude oil trades.
