China CSSC Holdings, the listed arm of the country's largest shipbuilder, has secured its second major order in less than a week, a contract worth more than $1bn to build 10 dual-fuel pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs). The deal was disclosed on 15 Sep 2026. The vessels, each capable of transporting about 8,200 vehicles and designed to run on liquefied natural gas, will be built by subsidiary Guangzhou Shipyard International for an unnamed shipowner, according to a stock exchange disclosure. Deliveries are scheduled between 2029 and 2031, with payment to be made in US dollars, the Shanghai-based company said, without providing further details on the contract or the client. China CSSC said the project will draw on Guangzhou Shipyard's capabilities in design and development, final assembly and construction, and quality control of large roll-on/roll-off ships, and it expects the order to contribute positively to future earnings. The announcement follows a separate deal disclosed on 29 Aug 2026, in which subsidiary Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding won a $2.7bn contract to build 12 LNG dual-fuel container vessels of 21,700 twenty-foot equivalent capacity for the vessel-investment arm of Cosco Shipping Holdings. The two orders together underscore continued strong demand for dual-fuel newbuildings from Chinese yards.
