Turkish shipowner Bayraktar Shipping has returned to the newbuilding market after several years of absence, contracting China Merchants Industry Group's Wuhan Qingshan Shipyard for two firm plus two optional 1,800-TEU container vessels. Deliveries are scheduled for 2028 and 2029. European shipbrokers estimate the price of a new 1,800-TEU feeder at around US$32M at a Chinese shipyard, compared with approximately US$37M in South Korea.
