MSC's Global Car Carriers Orders 12 LNG Dual-Fuel PCTCs in China

The initiative represents MSC’s continued diversification beyond container shipping, complementing its investments in VLCC assets through Sinokor and its extensive container fleet. The timing of the order coincides with a resurgence in PCTC ordering in 2026, despite concerns over future overcapacity and a heavy delivery pipeline. The new vessels will feature advanced specifications such as LNG dual-fuel propulsion, battery-hybrid systems, alternative-fuel readiness, and increased High & Heavy cargo capacity. GCC’s program also reinforces the dominant role of Chinese shipbuilders in global PCTC construction.
