During Posidonia 2026 in Greece, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding and China Shipbuilding Trading Co. signed a contract with Dynacom Tankers Management for 12 Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs). The deal, worth nearly RMB 10 billion (about US$1.4 billion), includes partial payment in
Chinese yuan, marking progress in RMB-denominated shipbuilding contracts. The vessels will be based on MARIC's latest 307,000-dwt VLCC design, featuring optimized hulls, energy-saving devices, WinGD engines, exhaust gas scrubbers, and high-pressure SCR systems to comply with environmental standards. Additional cargo heating systems will enhance operational flexibility. This contract continues the partnership between Hudong-Zhonghua and Dynacom, following two FSRU deliveries in 2021. Construction is set to start in October 2027, expanding Hudong-Zhonghua’s orderbook alongside LNG carriers and ultra-large container ships.
