Construction has officially started on the 80,000 DWT multipurpose grain carrier N1262 for COSCO Shipping Development, marked by the keel-laying and hull assembly commencement. The vessel will measure 229.95 metres in length, 32.26 metres in beam, and 21 metres in depth. It is designed for flexible cargo operations, capable of transporting grain as well as hazardous containerised cargo such as new energy vehicles, lithium batteries, and energy storage units. The first ship in this series, Guoyunhai, has already entered service and launched a North Africa route, receiving positive feedback from the shipowner for its strong performance. This new build continues COSCO Shipping Development’s expansion in versatile cargo vessels.
