Reliable sources report that COSCO SHIPPING Holdings Co., Ltd. is close to finalizing an order exceeding 2 billion US dollars for up to 12 dual-fuel LNG container vessels. Industry experts indicate these ships may be deployed by Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), though no official announcement has been made by COSCO SHIPPING Holdings. Shipbrokers state the order includes 12 New Panamax LNG dual-fuel container ships, each with a capacity of 14,000 TEU, to be built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC). Each vessel is estimated to cost between 170 million and 190 million US dollars.
