**MSC SALERNO detained in Gioia Tauro** The container ship MSC SALERNO was detained in Gioia Tauro on 18 Jan 2026 by Paris MoU inspectors. The LR-flagged container vessel of 155,955 GT and IMO number 9968322, managed by MSC ship management limited, underwent a single initial inspection visit on 18 Jan 2026. Checks covered the accommodation and galley, cargo area, engine room, navigation bridge, decks and forecastle and steering room. Inspectors recorded zero deficiencies, including none classified as detainable. The vessel holds a DNV-issued class certificate valid until 30 Oct 2030 and was delivered after its keel was laid on 19 Dec 2024. The vessel remains under detention.
