On December 11, CMA CGM celebrated the naming of CMA CGM ANTIGONE, its first methanol dual-fuel container ship, at Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai, China. The 366-meter-long vessel is the lead ship in Jiangnan's new 'Kun' series, focusing on ultra large and fuel-efficient designs to support CMA CGM's growing low-carbon fleet. Captain Zhang Zequan will command the ship on the Phoenician Express (BEX2) route connecting Asia, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean. Harriet Wu, CMA CGM China senior adviser, acted as the vessel’s godmother during the ceremony, following a longstanding maritime tradition. This marks CMA CGM’s 18th newbuild from Jiangnan Shipyard since 2013, as the company continues its commitment to sustainable shipping with nearly USD 20 billion invested in LNG- and methanol-powered vessels.
