On December 11, 2025, CMA CGM officially received its newest vessel, CMA CGM ANTIGONE, at Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai. This marks the French shipping giant’s first methanol-powered container ship constructed in China and represents a major step forward in the company's decarbonisation efforts. The 15,000 TEU vessel, the first in a series of six sister ships, is designed to meet stringent global emissions standards. At the naming ceremony, CMA CGM executives highlighted the ship's environmental performance and the importance of partnerships with Chinese shipyards. The vessel will soon operate on the BEX2 service, connecting Asia, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean, furthering CMA CGM’s mission to reduce its environmental impact and move toward net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
