CIMC Pacific Marine Engineering (CIMC SOE) has officially confirmed a major newbuilding contract with a wholly owned subsidiary of Danaos Corporation for six firm plus two optional 1,800 TEU feeder containerships. Deliveries are set to begin in 2027 and could extend through September 2029 if all options are exercised. The project is notable for its de-risking structure, with long-term charter coverage already secured from a major liner operator—four of the vessels are fixed on 10-year charters.
