China COSCO Shipping Corporation has finalized an agreement with China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) to order 87 new ships, a deal valued at approximately RMB 50 billion. The historic arrangement, signed in Shanghai on December 8, 2025, covers a wide range of vessel types, including ultra-large container ships, bulk carriers, VLCCs, grain carriers, heavy lift vessels, medium range tankers, and small container ships. Construction of the vessels will be managed by CSSC's subsidiaries as COSCO advances its fleet modernization efforts and reinforces its global presence.
