Jan De Nul Group has unveiled the world's largest cable-laying vessel, named Fleeming Jenkin. With an impressive loading capacity of 28,000 tonnes, this state-of-the-art ship is designed to lay next-generation subsea cables for renewable energy transmission. The vessel, measuring 215 meters in length and equipped with dual turntables (10,000 t and 18,000 t), will play a crucial role in linking offshore wind farms and interconnectors across continents. Featuring advanced dynamic positioning (DP3), the Fleeming Jenkin is expected to be delivered in the second half of 2026. Named in honor of British engineer Fleeming Jenkin, a pioneer in submarine telegraph cables, the vessel represents a blend of historic innovation and modern sustainability.
