On Saturday, Cochin Shipyard Limited marked a significant achievement in sustainable shipping by launching the hybrid-electric, methanol-ready Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) 'Pelagic Walu.' Built for Pelagic Wind Services and based on Kongsberg Maritime’s UT 5519 HL design, the vessel is equipped with hybrid propulsion systems, permanent magnet azimuth thrusters, and methanol-ready engines. The 'Pelagic Walu' is designed to provide top-tier offshore wind support while minimizing its environmental impact. The launch event was celebrated as a milestone for international collaboration, highlighting advanced Norwegian technology and Indian shipbuilding expertise coming together in support of a greener maritime future.
