The NYK Group and Kambara Kisen have taken a significant step in sustainable shipping by jointly operating the 'Green Future,' the world’s first methanol dual-fuel bulk carrier. The vessel, with a deadweight of 65,700 tonnes, was completed by Tsuneishi Shipbuilding in May 2025. On September 28, low-carbon methanol fuel was successfully supplied to the ship via ship-to-ship bunkering at the port of Ulsan, South Korea. Kambara Kisen owns and manages the Green Future, while NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers operates it, demonstrating both companies’ commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility in maritime transport.
