HMM Orders 12 Eco-Friendly 13,000 TEU Ships from Korean Shipyards

Ocean will construct these vessels, which will be powered by LNG, aiming to comply with strengthened carbon emission regulations by the International Maritime Organization and the European Union. According to DNV, LNG fuel can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 23%, nitrogen oxides by over 80%, and sulfur oxides by over 99% compared to conventional fuels. This order follows HMM's previous orders including methanol and LNG fuel-powered vessels, enhancing its eco-friendly competitiveness. HMM plans to expand its fleet and boost its green credentials as part of its 2030 long-term strategy.
