Grand Bahama Shipyard has officially welcomed MSC Cruises as a new partner in its ambitious $600 million modernization initiative. This development marks a significant step in the shipyard's ongoing efforts to enhance its capabilities alongside existing partners, Carnival Corporation and Royal Caribbean. The project will prominently feature the addition of two new floating docks, aiming to bolster the shipyard's infrastructure. According to their statement, the first dock, named "East End," will arrive by November and become operational by January 2026. The second dock, "Lucayan," is expected to be operational later in 2026. The enhancement of the floating dock system is forecasted to create substantial economic benefits and employment opportunities over the next 25 years. The shipyard, the largest private non-tourism employer in The Bahamas, continues to invest in local workforce development through its apprentice program, further emphasizing its commitment to community enrichment.
