This acquisition marks a significant expansion into the U.S. shipbuilding industry for the Canadian company, aiming to address a critical shortage of icebreakers in the United States. Currently, the U.S. operates only three Arctic-ready vessels compared to Russia’s fleet of nearly 50. The deal, expected to finalize in summer 2025, is contingent on certain conditions, including negotiations with the Galveston Wharves
