Kasuga Kaiun, based in Ehime, Japan, has expanded its fleet with additional orders at New Dayang Shipbuilding in China. The shipowner recently signed an agreement for the construction of two more 64,100-dwt ultramax bulk carriers at the Yangzhou-based shipyard. These new orders increase Kasuga Kaiun's total number of ultramax vessels under construction at the Chinese shipyard to five. The company had originally placed orders for three such newbuildings the previous year. The move highlights Kasuga Kaiun's strategic expansion in the bulk shipping market, consolidating its presence with these state-of-the-art ultramax carriers known for their efficiency and capacity. The collaboration with New Dayang Shipbuilding marks a continued partnership, reflecting the shipowner's confidence in the shipyard's capabilities.
