EPS’ Sixth Dual-Fuel PCTC Launched at Jinling Shipyard

The inaugural vessel from this series, Lake Herman, was delivered back in 2023, marking the beginning of this innovative fleet. These vessels are equipped with high-pressure dual-fuel engines and two 2,000 cubic meter LNG storage tanks, powered by a hybrid propulsion system from the Finnish technology group, Wärtsilä. Designed to meet IMO TIER III emissions standards, the dual-fuel hybrid power in the newbuilds can significantly reduce emissions, cutting SOx by about 99%, NOx by 80%, PM by 90%, and CO2 emissions by 30%. In a continued effort to expand its fleet sustainably, EPS placed further orders in November 2024 for additional LNG dual-fuel PCTCs. These include four 5,500 CEU vessels from Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding and two from China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) Jinling, each priced at $80 million. Deliveries for Fujian's vessels are anticipated in 2027, while those from CMHI Jinling are expected by 2028.
