Briggs Marine has recently taken delivery of a new maintenance support vessel, the Forth Constructor, from the Freire shipyard . This vessel is the latest addition to the company's fleet and is specifically equipped to support offshore wind farm operations. The Forth Constructor, boasting a length of 40 meters and powered by DP-2 diesel-electric propulsion, is engineered for a wide range of offshore activities in UK and northern European waters. Designed by Cintranaval and Freire Shipyard , its capabilities include survey, diving, and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) operations. The ship is fitted with advanced systems such as a moon-pool, a detachable A-frame, a heave-compensated crane, and a state-of-the-art survey project office. To facilitate renewable energy projects, the Forth Constructor features a detachable ladder for crew transfer vessel boarding. It has accommodations for six crew members and ten project team members, ensuring sufficient space and comfort for extended offshore missions. The vessel was launched by Briggs Marine in July 2024 at Freire Shipyard in Vigo, Spain. After its launch, it was relocated to a wet berth where final fit-outs were completed before its official delivery. In related news, Dominion Energy announced that the Charybdis, the first domestically built offshore wind turbine installation vessel in the U.S., has commenced sea trials. Constructed at the Seatrium AmFELS shipyard in Brownsville, Texas, this vessel will play a vital role in the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project.
