Purus has announced the commencement of steel cutting for its latest medium gas carrier (MGC) at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in South Korea, marking a significant advancement in the company’s efforts toward low-carbon energy transport. The steel cutting ceremony, held on October 21, celebrated the first phase of construction for this 190-meter vessel, which is designed to support the storage and transportation of low-carbon gases, especially ammonia.

With a capacity of 45,000 cubic meters, this new vessel is part of an order for four MGCs scheduled for delivery between 2025 and 2026. The fleet expansion aligns with Purus' commitment to advancing clean energy infrastructure and sustainable fuel transport solutions. This vessel series is anticipated to play a vital role in promoting low-carbon energy options, supporting the global transition to cleaner fuels.
