Bordeaux-based tanker owner and operator, Socatra, has reaffirmed its partnership with Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) by placing an order for two new medium-range (MR) tankers. This latest agreement underscores Socatra's strategic commitment to modernizing its fleet in line with the evolving environmental standards set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

The newbuilds, each measuring 180 meters in length with a deadweight tonnage (dwt) of 40,000, are designed and independently developed by GSI to comply with IMO Tier III regulations, aimed at reducing nitrogen oxide emissions, and EEDI Phase 3 requirements, which address enhanced energy efficiency. This collaboration highlights Socatra's continued focus on sustainability and adherence to international regulatory frameworks.
