Navios Maritime Partners has disclosed $215.2m in additional tanker newbuilding acquisitions, adding one VLCC and two MR2 product carriers to its fleet investment programme, according to the company's third-quarter results. The package includes a $124m agreement for a scrubber-fitted VLCC reached in October and a $91.2m deal for two scrubber-fitted MR2 tankers signed in September, with the MR2s costing $45.6m each. All three vessels are being acquired from unrelated third parties, with delivery expected in the second half of 2029. Navios has not disclosed the sellers or shipyards involved. The new VLCC brings Navios' supertanker newbuilding programme to eight vessels and lifts total investment in that series to $967.5m, following earlier disclosures of three VLCCs worth $361.5m in August and four units worth $482m previously. The company's broader tanker newbuilding pipeline now totals 21 vessels, comprising eight VLCCs, eight aframax/LR2s and five MR2s. Navios' overall fleet stands at 182 vessels, including newbuildings, split between 65 bulkers, 54 containerships and 63 tankers. The results also confirmed a previously reported $488m deal for four 10,100 teu containership newbuildings agreed in September. Separately, Navios added $735.1m in new contracted charter revenue across eight containerships, four tankers and two bulk carriers, bringing its total charter backlog to $5bn through 2037.
