HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, a leading South Korean shipyard, announced on Monday that it has secured contracts totaling 492.5 billion won (approximately $357.2 million) for the construction of four vessels for shippers in the Middle East and Australia.According to a regulatory filing, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, one of HD Korea Shipbuilding's three shipbuilding units, will build two very large gas carriers. These vessels are scheduled for delivery to an undisclosed shipping company in the Middle East by June 2027. Additionally, HD Hyundai Mipo will construct two product carriers for an unnamed Australian shipper, with delivery expected by March 2027.

This year, HD Korea Shipbuilding has secured orders for the construction of 122 vessels, valued at $12.9 billion. This represents 95.9 percent of the company’s annual target of $13.5 billion.HD Korea Shipbuilding operates as a subholding company within the conglomerate HD Hyundai, which encompasses shipbuilding, oil refining, and machinery sectors. The company oversees three domestic units: HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, HD Hyundai Mipo, and HD Hyundai Samho. This latest order further solidifies HD Korea Shipbuilding's position as a key player in the global shipbuilding industry, demonstrating its capacity to meet the demands of international shipping markets.
