Türkiye's Özata Shipyard has delivered MISTERØY, its first newbuilding vessel constructed for a Northern European operator. The 77-metre fully electric ferry was built for Norwegian ferry company Torghatten Nord and will operate on the Festvåg–Misten route north of Bodø, Norway. MISTERØY is equipped with a 1,960 kWh battery system and is the first of three sister ships ordered from Özata Shipyard. The remaining two vessels, FLØYTIND and MØYSALEN, will follow at a later date. All three ferries were designed by The Norwegian Ship Design Company. According to TrustedDocks orderbook data, the order for the three-vessel series, classified as RoRo/car carrier ferries with a deadweight of 525 tonnes, was placed with Özata Shipyard in June 2024. Torghatten Nord has seven additional newbuilding projects scheduled for delivery between 2026 and 2028. Those vessels are being constructed at shipyards located in Türkiye, Lithuania, Denmark and Norway, reflecting the operator's broader fleet renewal programme across multiple shipbuilding markets.
