A keel-laying ceremony was held on 17 September 2026 at the CRIST shipyard in Gdynia, Poland, for Yard number 328, the first of two next-generation fibre-optic cable-laying vessels being built for Malaysia-based OMS Group. The vessel will be delivered as CS Resilience. Keel-laying marks the point at which hull assembly has begun, defined as the completion of at least 50 tonnes or one per cent of the vessel's estimated structural mass. The hull will later be transferred to Ulstein Verft in Norway, which is overseeing overall project management, including system integration, construction follow-up, outfitting, commissioning and delivery, including integration of a hybrid power and automation package from Ulstein Power & Control. Both vessels in the series are scheduled to enter service in 2028. Designed by Ulstein Design & Solutions AS as the ULSTEIN SX252 model, the vessel will measure 130 metres in length and carry up to 6,500 tonnes of cable. It features two large cable tanks, two spare-cable tanks, a hangar enclosing the cable deck, and an open upper deck for ROVs and containers. A 50-tonne A-frame with a towing winch supports ploughing operations, while the ULSTEIN X-BOW hull design reduces vessel motion to limit cable wear and improve safety in rough conditions. Once operational, CS Resilience is intended to support installation and maintenance of subsea telecommunications cables, which underpin global digital connectivity infrastructure.
