French carrier CMA CGM has officially named its newest methanol dual-fuel containership, CMA CGM Lorenzaccio, a 15,000TEU vessel built to serve the company's standalone Red Sea service. The ship was constructed by CSSC (Tianjin) Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, which said delivery was completed 16 days ahead of the contractual schedule. CMA CGM Lorenzaccio is part of a six-ship series named after French literary characters. The Malta-flagged vessel measures 366 metres in length overall with a beam of 51 metres, a gross tonnage of 155,613, and a deadweight of 156,100. According to the shipbuilder, the ship incorporates an optimised hull form, a high-efficiency propeller, and an energy-saving rudder bulb. It is also capable of carrying refrigerated and dangerous-goods containers. The vessel follows earlier ships in the DSIC-built programme, including CMA CGM Eugenie, named in Shanghai in December 2025, and CMA CGM Monte Cristo, delivered in January with an 11,000-cubic-metre methanol tank. CMA CGM has stated its ambition to operate approximately 200 containerships capable of running on low-carbon energy sources by 2031, as part of its broader fleet decarbonisation strategy.
