Thai shipowner Precious Shipping has ordered four 64,500 dwt ultramax bulk carriers at Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering in China for a combined $141.8m. Each vessel is priced at $35.45m, with deliveries scheduled for April, July and October 2030, and January 2031. The order follows an earlier contract placed at the same yard in 2024, when Precious Shipping ordered four 63,500 dwt bulkers for $133.46m. Once the new ships are delivered, the company's fleet will expand to 47 vessels totalling approximately 2.34m dwt. Precious Shipping, based in Thailand, operates a fleet of dry bulk carriers serving international trade routes. The repeat order at Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering underscores continued demand for ultramax-class bulkers, a segment favoured for its flexibility in handling a range of cargo types and port infrastructure constraints. The latest contract adds to a steady stream of newbuilding orders in the dry bulk sector as owners look to renew and expand capacity with deliveries stretching into the early 2030s. According to TrustedDocks orderbook data, the four vessels will run on conventional fuel and are all currently listed as ordered, with the deal reported on 30 September 2026.
