Navantia, S.A., S.M.E has officially delivered the 87-metre offshore patrol vessel Moulay Hassan I to the Royal Moroccan Navy, marking a significant step in naval cooperation between Spain and Morocco. The vessel was designed and built at Navantia's San Fernando shipyard in the Bay of Cádiz. The programme generated more than one million working hours and supported approximately 1,100 direct, indirect and induced jobs across the region's shipbuilding sector. The contract extends beyond the delivery of the ship itself, encompassing crew training, technical documentation, spare parts and logistical support. This scope reflects the breadth of the naval value chain based in Cádiz, which spans design, construction and long-term in-service support rather than vessel construction alone. The delivery underscores the ongoing defence-industrial ties between Spain and Morocco, with Navantia positioning San Fernando as a hub for offshore patrol vessel production. The wider industrial ecosystem behind such projects is set to be showcased at the Cádiz International Maritime Exhibition, scheduled to take place in Cádiz from 5 to 7 October 2027.
